What is Bahad Zubu Kali Ilustrisimo Mangtas Baraw Era?

Bahad Zubu KI Mangtas Baraw Era is a devastating and highly effective form of Filipino Martial Arts, retaining all of the core techniques, concepts and strategies devised by the late Grandmaster Antonio 'Tatang' Ilustrisimo, Jose "Jo Go"Milan (Balintawak, Tat Kun Tou, GoKoSha and Palakaw-Banate), Solferino "Kapitan Perung Pak-An" Borinaga (Repikada Pigada) and Islao Romo. Additionally, the system incorporates the dynamic expression of movement unique to Grandmaster Epifanio 'Yuli' Romo. Grandmaster Romo utilizes direct, preemptive situational destructions, parrying methods and explosive disarming techniques.

Training includes, but is not limited to, the use of:

barong - a leaf-shaped sword, and the favourite of Grandmaster Ilustrisimo.

pinuti - a narrow sword suitable for stabbing and slashing

kampilan - long sword

tungkod and sungkod - four- and three-foot staffs

pisaw/baraw/kampit - knife

solo baston - single stick

doble baston - double stick

lubas pangamut - hardcore empty-handed fighting

Who can train?

The minimum age for trainees is 21. We expect trainees to be men and women of exceptional character. There is little sparring and almost no adrenaline rush, no competitions. In other words, if you enjoy the rush of UFC and unofficial Fight Clubs, this is not for you. We don't train for power, or speed, or strength. We don't shout or grunt for energy. Everyone can train, but not everyone can train.
