When this blog was written, true classes were only taught once a week. Now, it is no longer true, Chicago City classes alone are offered four times a week.  So, cannot blame the messenger here.  It is always up to the student, the onous is always on the student to show up to class, practice, and do well.  Not the name of the school.  One can go study from the best teachers about the best subjects, but if the studetnt does not study well or practice often then it is not good for that student & might result in inadequate learning.  Classes in Defensor Method are even now offered at Elgin and at Elmhurst mostly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  There are at present a whole slew of qualified Defensor Method practitioners in the Chicago area who are Levels I, II, III and White shirts available for private lessons.  So the amount of available instruction has certainly increased since 2005.The blog also points out one of the Defensor Method students who competed at the Dog Brothers Gathering, his name was Lukasz and to his credit he also played and competed among MMA/UFC circles and did well.  He did practice Defensor Method and did well against other styles and systems.  In a nutshell, keyboard warriors or bloggers overall are not that knowledgeable and I would caution readers to carefully keep an open mind especially to websites like the  Bullshido Blogs who rely heavily on what they find on the Internet.

I couldn't agree more Guro Nate. It is up to the student to practice and put forth the effort to study and perfect their techniques on their own. Now about these keyboard warriors, do not worry about the info they spew, most do not train in the FMA, and those that do are trying to build up their own egos by trashing those they feel are a threat. You are known by your actions more than what you may say, this really sets those of us who are knowledgeable and train at our Arts over those "paper tigers" who only "say" they are knowlegeable. Continue the good work and promotion of the Defensor Method!

Yours Truly,

Ben Harrison, Sterling Modern Arnis Club (Alakdan)
