THE ARNISADORS of the Philippine Navy established themselves as the best team in the recently-concluded 5th Sinulog Eskrima Tournament as they captured eight titles last Saturday at the Academy of Eskrima Mountain Trainig Park in Busay.

The Navymen put their name in the list for Philippine Team wannabes which will represent the country in the 10th World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) Championships in Mexico City later this year.

Bannering Philippine Navy were Roldan Ramirez, Jessie Candado, Jane Briones, Peter Dahan, Juan Furasical Jr. and Fernando Parcon.

Parcon and Furisical were at the forefront as they got two titles each. Parcon beat Agapito Legaspi of the Mandaue Stick Fighting Team to win the bantamwight division. He followed that up with a win over Hobert Cosquejo to capture the super flyweight crown. Furisical on the other hand, defeated David Arwell to take home the lightweight title, a fitting finale to his day after winning the non-traditional class in the forms competition.

The rest of the champions for Philippine Navy were Dahan (middleweight), Candado (welterwight). Briones (women's double-stick) and Ramirez (men's single stick traditional forms).

Banilad Academy was a close second with seven titles led by Miguel Mendoza and Steven Atenta.
