Master Michael Giron, (President /Founder) of the "Bahala Na" Original Giron Escrima Federation was born the 2nd of 4 children on December 31, 1949 to the legendary Grand Master Emeritus Leovigildo Miguel Giron and Soledad Mapa.

This month's featured teachers are Mataw Guros Walter and Wesley Crisostomo of Ultimate Eskrima. The brothers have been martial art practitioners since they were kids and learned the basics of DeCuerdas from the late Grandmaster Iti Boring, Grandmaster Uwet Jecong and Grandmaster Titing Heyrosa. This month's featured is Mataw Guro Andy Sanano. He has been training in the Martial Arts since 1961and has more than 49 years experience in hand-to-hand combat and over 39 years in the instruction of self-defense and the Martial Arts. Mataw Guro Louelle Lledo, Jr. is the founder of Amara Arkanis and is a Master Teacher of Martial Arts. Some of Mataw Guro Lou's credits include: Heir to the Bernarte Brokil Sistemang Praksiyon, 1974 head referee of the International Invitational Karate Championships hosted by the PKA, and officiated in the 1975, Third World Karate Championships held in Long Beach, California, in which the Philippine Karate Team claimed 4th place.In this audio interview, we discuss the principles of knife fighting and the realities of knife attacks, Amara Arkanis' awareness training and defending against multiple attackers. You will also hear Mataw Guro Lou's theory of the Filipino Martial Arts as a "System of Systems", and the difference between an instructor and a teacher.
